FMR's 12-page supplement on Islam, human rights and displacement will soon be available in Arabic and English.
We hope it will enhance debate and understanding of the concepts and
instruments of international human rights in the Islamic world. More
information is online at http://www.fmreview.org/human-rights.htm
How to request copies:
All readers who usually receive the Arabic edition (NHQ) of FMR will receive a copy of the supplement in Arabic with their copy of NHQ 31 in January. You therefore do not need to request it UNLESS you would like to receive multiple copies for training purposes and/or onward distribution.
The English version of the supplement will NOT be mailed out to regular readers of FMR. You need to email us to request copies. We are keen to distribute copies to organisations which would find it useful for training and awareness-raising purposes. We would also be happy to send it to libraries and resource centres.
If you would like copies of the supplement, please email us at
fmr@qeh.ox.ac.uk, indicating:
- which language
- how many
- your full postal address
- and, preferably, how you propose using it.
REMINDER
If you have not already done so, we would be extremely grateful if you would complete our reader survey at http://www.fmreview.org/2008survey.htm This will help us make sure FMR is meeting your needs and give us ideas of how we might improve it. Thank you!

The latest issue of Forced Migration Review (FMR 30) with its feature section on ‘Burma’s displaced people’ is now online at www.fmreview.org/burma.htm
With the ‘Saffron revolution’ of September 2007, Burma was catapulted into the centre of international attention. It was briefly headline news as people monitored the regime’s response and watched for hints of progress towards democracy and the restoration of rights. With little action on either front (and no visible resurgence of violence or protest), interest has since waned. This issue of FMR aims to help bring the crisis of forced displacement of Burmese people back into the international spotlight.
The feature section on Burma includes 29 articles exploring the extent of the displacement crisis, factors affecting displaced people and the search for solutions. The issue also includes 19 articles on other aspects of forced migration.
We would like to thank Inge Brees, guest editor for the Burma feature section, and those agencies that have provided funding specifically for this issue: DanChurchAid, DFAIT Canada, International Rescue Committee, UK Department for International Development and ZOA Refugee Care.
This issue will be published in Burmese as well as our usual four languages: English, Arabic, French and Spanish.
This issue will be distributed to our usual mailing list shortly. If you usually receive FMR, you do not need to contact us unless you require multiple copies.
If you do not usually receive FMR but would like to receive a hard copy for your organisation, or multiple copies for distribution to partners and policy- and decision-makers, please contact fmr@qeh.ox.ac.uk You will need to send us your full postal address and indicate how many copies in which language you require.
Please feel free to reproduce and circulate any articles, crediting Forced Migration Review and citing the URL www.fmreview.org/burma.htm.
The feature themes of the next two issues of FMR in 2008 are climate change/environmental displacement (www.fmreview.org/climatechange.htm) and statelessness (www.fmreview.org/statelessness.htm). If you would like to write for either, please look at the calls for articles online and contact us as soon as possible at fmr@qeh.ox.ac.uk. Many thanks.
Apologies for any cross-posting of this message.
With best wishes

We recently received a significant donation of back issues of the journal entitled "Women’s Asylum News." The donation consisted Issues 49 (Feb 2005) through to Issue 74 (April 2008). This donation was very kindly given to us by the Refugee Women’s Resource Project @ Asylum Aid and supplements the back issues of this journal that we already held so we now hold an almost complete run from 2002 (Issue 20) onwards.
